I did these four sticker designs in 2024 when I started making and selling my own art products. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with how any of them turned out. The two deer designs in particular feel rushed to me. But the main problem is the limitations of my medium: I wanted to make something that looked like the trendy and colorful vinyl stickers you see on so many water bottles and laptops, and these almost all feature digital art and are cut out with special computer-guided equipment; my black-and-white approach using traditional media and an old-fashioned paper cutter just couldn’t imitate that look effectively. The stylization and black-and-white subject matter of the “Consider the Ravens” sticker comes closest, and I think that one is my favorite of the four. I also had a lot of fun with “Consider the Lilies,” selecting and arranging several different kinds of wildflowers native to Israel, including Madonna lily, Queen Anne’s lace, dwarf chicory, wild pea, and chamomile.
