This painting started as a chalk drawing I did for a competition at a Higher Things conference my husband and I attended (“Taste and See” was the theme of the conference that year). My husband then convinced me to revisit the design as a more detailed watercolor painting. I’m often asked how long it takes me to complete a painting, and I don’t generally have a very informative answer, but in the case of this piece, although the original is only slightly more than 5.5×4″, I believe it took me the better part of an unabridged audio book of “Moby Dick.”
